Bahney House project moves ahead

In November 2010, The Fireplace in Myerstown, Pa., purchased a pre-Civil War hotel named the Bahney House. The building had fallen into great disrepair and the site was used for prostitution, drug dealing and other vices

The church planned renovations to provide a safe hotel, café and laundry mat for the community. Charlie Kline, senior elder, said, “We hoped that in operating this hotel, we would have opportunity to introduce people to Jesus and advance God’s kingdom in a place where lives had been destroyed for years.”

A year and a half later the renovations are only half finished and costing twice as much as the estimates, but lives are being transformed through the outreach. Steph and Toby are examples of how God is advancing His kingdom in a place where lives had been destroyed. The couple had met at the Bahney House when they were both using drugs and Steph worked as a bartender. After Steph and Toby committed their lives to Jesus, they invited friends and family members to attend The Fireplace and nine lives have been completely changed by Jesus.

Charlie said, “We trust that the finances will come through in God’s time, and that many more souls will be brought in to the Kingdom of God through the Bahney House.” Please pray for this project. Also, if anyone would like to sow finances into this transforming project, assist us in any way, or for more information, visit bahneyhouse.com. – Charlie Kline, senior elder, The Fireplace
