Two of the most powerful words in the English Language are “Thank you.” God tells us to “enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise” (Ps. 100:4). There is just something about gratitude that changes the atmosphere. The way we approach God and the way we approach everyday life should always be with words of thanksgiving and praise. Praise dispels darkness.

When we grumble and complain, we literally invite darkness into our lives. In fact, the bible says the Israelites tested the Lord and grumbled and complained and were destroyed. And then it says, this was written as a warning for us (I Cor. 9-11). We all face struggles in life. Let’s be real about our personal challenges, but then find something we can thank God for. Our words of thanksgiving, praise and gratitude will change the atmosphere.
