Years ago, I received a revelation about the grace of God that has literally revolutionized my life. Although I was in love with Jesus, I was still living in a mental prison. It seemed like some things would never change. Then one day someone vividly described the “grace of God” to me in a way that literally changed my life!

Grace is God’s unimaginable and total kindness! We receive it freely and do not deserve it, and our hearts cannot but change because of it! We cannot fully describe it, but we can experience it. Grace affects everything we do in life. When I finally began to understand the grace of God, it changed the way I thought, acted and responded to difficulties that arose in my life.

Grace is defined as the free unmerited favor of God on the undeserving and ill-deserving. God loves us and does not want us to be separated from Him by sin. So our first glimpse of grace occurs when God offers salvation to us even though we do not deserve it or work to earn it. He gives a measure of grace as a gift to unbelievers so they may be able to believe in the Lord Jesus. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”

We come to God initially because He is the One who has drawn us. Jesus says in John 6:44, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who has sent me draws him.” I’ve met people who have said, “I found God.” We do not find God; He finds us! He has been drawing us to Himself all along.
